Derrick Johnston, our club manager, has announced that he will be resigning from his position as of July 31, 2020 and will not pursue a renewal of his contract.
The Board of Directors has respectfully accepted his resignation, with gratitude for all that he has done in the past 6 years for our club. During his tenure, he has been responsible for growing our membership to double what it was and building our finances back to a healthy state. Performance success has also come from his hard work, with the club winning 4 overall indoor or outdoor provincial titles, not to mention a few 2nd /3rd places finishes. As well, London Western has seen 15 athletes and 4 coaches named to national teams, competing at the Olympics, World Championships, Paralympics, Para World Championships, Pan Am Games, Para Pan Am Games, and the Commonwealth Games. And this is just scratching the surface!
Needless to say, our club has thrived under Derrick’s leadership. But he has decided to move on and pursue other interests. Derrick will still be coaching at Western University, so you may see him at the track in that capacity.
The Board of Directors is now working to seek a replacement for the position of club manager. We will keep the membership informed of progress in this regard.
In closing, on behalf of the Board of Directors and club membership, I would like to wish Derrick nothing but the best in his future endeavours and to thank him for all that he has done to make the London Western Track and Field Club the outstanding establishment that it is, and will continue to be.
Sincerely,
Kathy Roberts
President—London Western TFC
